Heather Wong | Founder & Pastry Chef
Los Angeles native Heather Wong began her culinary journey in 2007, honing her craft in acclaimed kitchens such as Bottega Louie before rising to Executive Pastry Chef roles at Sweetsalt, Cascabel, and Josephine Bakery, and later showcasing her talents on Season 4 of Spring Baking Championship on The Food Network. In the summer of 2020, she launched FLOURING, an imaginative dessert brand rooted in the vibrant flavors of her Chinese and Mexican heritage and a commitment to sourcing from local LA farmers and purveyors. What began as a pandemic-born vision has grown into a beloved community presence, now led by a dynamic, women-run team at her Chinatown cake shop. Known for her signature floral-forward cakes and fine art inspired approach to classic American desserts, Heather’s work has been featured in Vogue and Elle, earning admiration from both local and national food enthusiasts.
Nicole Yamaguchi | Sous Chef & Head of Production
Fellow LA native, Nicole Yamaguchi began her professional path studying Psychology and Criminology before following her true passion for pastry, graduating with high honors from Le Cordon Bleu in 2012. She launched her culinary career as lead baker at Sweetsalt, where she worked alongside Heather Wong for four formative years, before going on to lead the pastry program at Love Catering, mentoring and developing rising talent over the next four years. Reuniting with Heather, Nicole stepped into the role of Pastry Sous Chef at FLOURING, and in 2024 played a pivotal role in spearheading the production team for the brand’s first brick-and-mortar cake shop in the heart of Chinatown.
Sarah Shinn | Baker
Sarah Shin is a production baker with Flouring, where she supports the execution of the brand’s signature designs with consistency and attention to detail. As a former teacher with LAUSD, she brings a thoughtful, process-driven approach to her work in the kitchen. Since 2022, Sarah has been a key part of the production team, helping translate creative vision into beautifully crafted results. She trained at the Institute of Culinary Education.
Angela Badong | Decorator
Angela Badong is a baker and cake decorator with a strong foundation in culinary and hospitality studies, holding associate degrees in Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts from Los Angeles Trade Technical College, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management with a focus on Food and Beverage from Cal Poly Pomona’s Collins College. Inspired early on by shows like Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss, she turned her passion into a career centered on cake decorating, where her creativity and attention to detail shine through in custom designs. Committed to quality and artistry, Angela continues to refine her craft while creating thoughtful, memorable pieces.
